Staffordshire Police is committed to ensuring equal opportunities for all its employees. The force is a participant on Stonewall's Diversity Champions programme and is proud to be eligible to display its logo which demonstrates our commitment to promoting a supportive work environment for gay people.
The Diversity Champions programme is a good practice forum where employers can work with Stonewall, and each other, to promote lesbian, gay and bisexual equality in the workplace.
In 2006 the force was rated Britain’s top employer for lesbian, gay and bisexual employees and has been in the top three on three consecutive occasions.
The criterion for joining the programme is simple: there must be evidence of a clear commitment to improving the working environment for lesbian, gay and bisexual staff.
We take part in the programme to ensure our workplace culture, policies, procedure and practices are fully inclusive of our lesbian, gay and bisexual staff. The programme does not specifically deal with issues relating to gender, disability, race, age or religion or belief. However it does aim to deal with the discrimination gay people experience and aims to share good practice which applies across all of the equality strands.
We have a number of support associations set up to help and advise employees including Staffordshire Police Lesbian, Gay and Bisexual Group.
