A structured interview is aimed at finding out about a person’s skills and abilities rather than what they know about a particular subject.
Part of your preparation before you come for the interview should be to look at the role profile and pay particular attention to the sorts of behaviours we say the role requires. There is a role profile with every vacancy we have on our jobs bulletin so you can study this and get to know the types of things we expect from people employed in that role.
With every application form we send out, we include notes on how to complete the form. We’ve found that candidates who have read these notes carefully do better than those who have not.
Interviews last about 45 minutes on average. There are usually two or three people on the interview panel who’ll be looking for evidence that you can display the behaviours outlined in the role profile. They will be taking notes during the interview. You will be asked questions relating to some of the behaviours listed in the role profile so it’s a good idea to have thought of examples of how you have demonstrated these beforehand.
At the end of the interview you’ll be told when a decision will be made and how we will inform you of it.
