Application form It is necessary to complete an application form for any job vacancy you wish to apply for with Staffordshire Police as we do not accept 'CV's.
All of our job vacancies will identify the essential skills, experience and knowledge that you require in the role profile attached to the advert.
The decision to invite you for interview is based on the information you provide on your application form. It is therefore very important you give good specific examples which evidence you have the skills and experience we are looking for.
Short listing Following the closing date for the vacancy all applications will be short listed against the essential skills, knowledge and experience required for that role.
If you are short listed you will receive a letter within eight weeks of the closing date, inviting you to the next stage. Dependent on the role applied for, the next stage may be an interview or may consist of an assessment process.
Interview/assessment For the majority of positions you will be invited to an interview. However, for certain roles there may be additional assessments e.g. assessment centre, in-tray exercises, psychometric tests, typing tests.
Our interviews are structured and competency based. You will need to demonstrate that you have the skills and abilities required for the role by way of giving examples of your previous experience. For example, if asked a question relating to decision making you could give specific details of how you have had to prioritise your work in your current role. All candidates are asked the same series of questions and you will be graded on your answer using a pre-set rating scale.
Conditional offer letter Following a successful interview/assessment you will receive a conditional offer letter which will be subject to satisfactory recruitment checks, vetting checks and medical clearance.
We will take up references to cover the five years prior to appointment. References will be sought regarding your attendance, work record, sickness and conduct.
Medical assessment You will be required to complete a medical history questionnaire and attend for a medical examination which includes a drugs test. Our occupational health physicians will assess your suitability to carry out the job you have applied for.
Formal offer of employment Upon receipt of satisfactory recruitment checks, vetting checks and medical clearance you will be issued with a formal offer letter confirming your appointment. At this point we will be looking to agree a mutually convenient date for you to commence your employment with Staffordshire Police. |
