To ensure all the people of Staffordshire receive a quality policing service, an effective programme of continuous training and development is maintained to equip all staff to do their job effectively.
As a new member of police staff we welcome the skills you bring with you to our organisation. To introduce you to the policing environment your induction programme will include some mandatory training elements such as the completion of computer based technology (CBT) packages and the use of our e-mail system.
The content of the remainder of your induction training programme will be specifically designed for you, based on your new role and could include training on information technology (IT) systems which you need to use or enrolment on courses for qualifications you need to obtain.
Staffordshire Police maintains a ‘review of professional development’ process for all staff where you and your line manager meet to review and agree performance targets. This process is also where your specific training or on-going development needs can be identified and addressed.
The policing environment is a dynamic one and training and development is the means to prepare our staff to meet its challenges. Throughout your career you can apply for funded post-entry training for external courses of study which are approved by the organisation as appropriate to your current role or future development.
We continue to support our managers through the provision of our ‘Leadership Development Programme’ in partnership with the Ashley Centre for Professional Management at Staffordshire University. Priority is given to newly promoted individuals to a management role, and to those managers in post who may not have had the opportunity to develop their leadership skills. |
