Salary
Police staff within Staffordshire Police can expect to be paid a competitive salary which will be agreed prior to commencement of employment. Increments to the next spinal column point (SCP) will be payable on 1 April annually.

Where an appointment is effective between 1 October and 31 March an increment will be paid six months after your commencement date and then 1 April annually thereafter. In addition, a cost of living increase is negotiated each year and is payable from 1 September.

Hours of work

Standard work hours are 37 for full-time police staff. A number of posts are subject to a scheme of flexible working hours. Other posts may be subject to shift work. Where this is the case, a shift allowance will be paid as appropriate. 

Leave entitlement

In a full year there is an entitlement to holiday of between 25 and 31 days depending on commencing pay spinal column point (SCP) for police staff. This is calculated pro rata for part time employees. Leave entitlement increases with length of service.

Pension arrangements
Police staff have the option to join the local government pension scheme, take out a private pension or join the state earnings related pension scheme.

Sickness payments
A sickness payment scheme is in operation. Entitlement to sickness payments increases by length of continuous service.

Work-life balance
